PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico — A total of 92 street vending stalls operating on public roads were removed for failing to comply with municipal regulations, according to the Director of Fiscalization and Cobranza, Julián Álvarez.

The official detailed that the confiscations were carried out primarily in the city's central district, specifically along 30th Avenue, Juárez Avenue, and in the CTM area, with the objective of freeing up public spaces and returning them to established businesses.

In addition to these actions, Álvarez noted that as a preventive measure, meetings are being maintained with leaders of various unions to update the registries of street vendors and bring order to this activity within the city.

In these agreements, he explained, options for relocating vendors who lack permits and are currently working in tourist zones or the central district of Playa del Carmen are also being analyzed.

Finally, Álvarez reiterated that the current administration will not be granting any new permits for street vending in these areas of the city.
