Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities in Quintana Roo are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred after an armed attack against an Uber driver, after a driver was shot on Sunday morning while driving along Haciendas de la Ciénega Avenue in the Haciendas Real del Caribe subdivision. The injured man remains hospitalized and his health condition was reported as delicate.
The victim was identified as José Concepción “N”, 37 years old, who was driving a Corolla-type vehicle. According to the medical report, he was admitted to the General Hospital with gunshot wounds to the cheek and neck, so he was immediately transferred to the emergency area for clinical studies and subsequently entered surgery.
Unofficially, it emerged that the man worked as a driver for the Uber platform and was making a trip when the passenger allegedly pulled out a firearm to rob him of his belongings. When he resisted, the aggressor reportedly shot him at least twice.
After receiving the impacts, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ended up crashing into an Aveo-type car, which alerted neighbors and motorists traveling through the area.
Forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office located bullet impacts on the driver’s door, as well as blood stains on the car seats. These clues were secured as part of the investigation file.
The ministerial police continue with the procedures to identify and locate the alleged perpetrator.
