Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A shooting attack recorded on Monday night in the In House neighborhood left one man dead after he was shot in a public street.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Bahía de Campeche Street at Gran Bahía Boulevard, next to a church and near a workshop known in the area.
According to the report received by emergency number 911, neighbors heard at least six gunshots and subsequently observed a person lying behind a residence, requesting help.
Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security arrived at the location following the report, confirming the presence of a man with injuries from a firearm projectile.
Paramedics who arrived minutes later corroborated that the victim no longer showed vital signs.
The area was cordoned off by municipal police to preserve evidence, while personnel from Forensic Services and the Investigation Police processed the scene and collected fired shell casings located at the site.
As of now, no information has been provided about detained persons, nor has the official identity of the victim been released.
The State Attorney General’s Office opened the corresponding investigation file to clarify the motive of the attack and find those responsible.
