Cancún, Mexico — Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta and Governor Mara Lezama inaugurated Gallery Turquesa, a new cultural space designed to promote artistic exchange and strengthen community ties in Cancún.
A Commitment to Art and Culture
During the ceremony, Mayor Peralta praised the gallery’s founder, Gastón Alegre López, for his dedication to enriching Cancún through his vision, generosity, and love for the region. "With actions like these, he reminds us what it means to be proudly from Cancún and proudly from Quintana Roo," she said.
Addressing representatives from the tourism sector, public service, and media, Peralta emphasized the transformative power of art and culture. She highlighted municipal initiatives such as the School of Artistic Initiation, which provides children with early exposure to creative expression, and the City Theater, which hosts weekly cultural activities.
"Cancún is much more than sun and beaches. We are a city at a pivotal moment, diversifying for growth," Peralta concluded.
Governor Lezama echoed these sentiments, noting that the state offers multiple spaces to promote values, peace, harmony, and identity. She described Gallery Turquesa as another platform to showcase extraordinary artists.
A Space for Shared Creativity
Gastón Alegre López, the gallery’s founder, described the venue as a place for collective engagement. "This is a space to share among everyone," he said, pointing to its collection of oils, lithographs, and sculptures that connect talent, beauty, and the emotion of art.
Following the speeches, officials and private-sector representatives participated in the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. Attendees then toured the gallery, exploring its diverse artworks.
The inauguration underscores Cancún’s growing cultural landscape, positioning the city as a hub for artistic development alongside its renowned tourism industry.
