Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Authorities have halted construction of the Macondo Playacar condominium project in the Playacar neighborhood of Solidaridad municipality after an inspection revealed potential permit and environmental issues.
The development, located in one of the Riviera Maya’s most active residential areas, was in its preliminary phase, involving land clearing and site preparation for a housing complex.
Officials suspended work during a review of the project’s permits and its impact on the surrounding natural environment. The temporary stoppage will remain in effect until the developers address the concerns raised.
Playacar is a high-growth residential zone in Playa del Carmen, where several new housing projects have been announced in recent months.
