Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Aura Music Fest, a free, family-friendly, and multidisciplinary festival, has been announced with the goal of increasing hotel occupancy and revitalizing Tulum’s economy. Organizers revealed details during a press conference in Cancún, confirming the event will take place from August 14 to 16.
A Multifaceted Cultural Experience
Lorenzo Castro Martínez, general director of Aurafest, stated that two major artists—Playa Limbo and Lasso—have already been confirmed for the lineup. The festival will feature a diverse program of activities starting as early as 7 or 8 p.m. and continuing late into the night.
“The primary objective is the economic reactivation of Tulum. We want visitors to enjoy time with their families and, after the concerts, dine out and participate in other activities,” Castro said.
The first day will highlight local artists, showcasing regional talent. Additionally, the festival will include culinary, artisanal, and cultural offerings, with over 20 exhibitors from Mayan communities.
Institutional and Private Sector Support
The event is backed by Visit México, the federal Secretary of Tourism, and multiple sponsors from the hotel and commercial sectors. A key feature of the Aura Music Fest is its 100% free and family-oriented approach, designed to generate direct economic impact not only for large hotels but also for small businesses, restaurants, artisans, and tour guides.
On August 15, the festival will coincide with the Lobster Festival, a tradition organized by producers from Punta Allen, further reinforcing local identity and promoting Tulum’s emblematic products.
Logistics and Security
Organizers anticipate daily attendance between 4,000 and 6,000 people. Coordination with security forces and municipal services is underway to ensure order and comfort for attendees.
Local officials, including councilman Jorge Portilla and Violeta Novelo Zapata, president of AMEXME Tulum, attended the press conference, emphasizing the festival’s importance for the community.
