At Least Four Women Shot Dead Across Quintana Roo Over the Weekend

Police officers and emergency vehicles cordon off an area near the Plaza Américas shopping mall in Cancún, Quintana Roo, where a woman was shot dead

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman riding a motorcycle with two children was shot dead near Plaza Las Américas in Playa del Carmen late Saturday, October 10. The following evening, a woman and a man were killed in the parking lot of a residential building in Cancún’s Corales neighborhood.

The Playa del Carmen attack took place near the intersection of Avenidas 38 and Chemuyil. Accounts from the scene say the two children with the woman were not physically injured. Authorities have not publicly established a motive or confirmed who carried out the shooting.

In Cancún, gunfire was reported Sunday evening, October 11, in the parking area of an apartment complex in Corales, Supermanzana 77. Initial reports described both people killed as women. Subsequent reporting identified the victims as a woman and a man. The circumstances of that attack, including who was targeted and why, remain under investigation.

The attacks took place in ordinary parts of community life: a route traveled with children and the parking area of a residential building. For the families involved, the immediate questions extend beyond the shootings themselves to the care of the children who witnessed the Playa del Carmen attack and the progress of both investigations.

There is no verified indication that the two shootings are connected. Nor has an official account established a total of four women killed in the incidents described here. That figure appears to combine an early error about the Corales victims with two descriptions of the same Playa del Carmen killing.
