Chetumal — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa led the flag-raising ceremony for the flag of Quintana Roo on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of its creation as a Free and Sovereign State. The event featured the debut of the Monumental War Band, comprising more than 112 children and young people, as well as the National and State Flag color guards, which are integrated with eight free civic organizations and educational institutions.
This major commemorative event took place at the Flag Esplanade in front of the Government Palace, with the presence of municipal presidents, representatives of the State Powers, as well as military authorities stationed in the entity.
The Monumental War Band is composed of students from various schools, whose bands are identified as "Titanes de Chetumal"; "Huracanes" from COBACH Chetumal 2; "Linces de Chetumal," a free organization; "Guerreros Caribe," free; "Panteras" from Secundaria General 7; "Mapaches" from ITCH; "Jaguares Negros" from ITZM; and "Búhos" from Secundaria General 11.
The National Flag color guard was the responsibility of "Titanes de Chetumal"; the State Flag, "Linces de Chetumal Libre"; and the Monumental Color Guard of the Quintana Roo Flag, by the "Pumas" Color Guard Club of Chetumal.
In total, 150 girls, boys, and young people, with their instructors and promoters, participated, giving prominence to this commemorative event of the creation of the Free and Sovereign State of Quintana Roo with their civic participation.
Accompanying Governor Mara Lezama at this ceremony were the honorary president of the Sistema DIF Quintana Roo, Verónica Lezama Espinosa; the president of the Board of Government and Political Coordination of the State Congress, Renán Sánchez Tajonar; the representative of the Judiciary, Rafael Ponce, president of the Administrative Body; the municipal president of Othón P. Blanco, Yensunni Martínez Hernández.
Representing the armed forces were Vice Admiral C.G DEM Marco Antonio Muñoz Hernández, commander of the 11th Naval Zone; Lieutenant Colonel of Sanitation Francisco Reyes Morales, representing the 34th Military Zone; Captain of the National Guard Aureliano Alonso García, regional coordinator of the National Guard in Chetumal; as well as municipal presidents.
