Armed Attack at Cancún Bar Leaves One Dead and Three Injured

Police units and officers arrived at the scene of the shooting at Cocktelería El Paisa in Cancún.

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A gunman opened fire at a cocktail bar in Cancún late Sunday night, killing one customer and wounding three people, including a child, according to preliminary reports.

The attack occurred at Cocktelería El Paisa on Avenida Niños Héroes in Supermanzana 228. Witnesses said the shooter entered the bar shortly after 11 p.m. and fired directly at one of the customers, who died at the entrance to the establishment.

The gunfire also struck a waiter, another customer, and a minor, all of whom were taken to the General Hospital by paramedics from multiple ambulances. Police and military units activated the Code Red protocol in an attempt to track down the attacker, and officers from the National Guard and other agencies responded to the scene.

Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased or the condition of the wounded. No arrests have been reported.
