Cancún, Mexico — Authorities from the State Attorney General's Office have announced the capture of Ignacio Eduardo "N," alias "El Compi," who is under investigation for his alleged connection to the clandestine cemetery located on November 6 at the San Lol ranch in the Leona Vicario zone, Puerto Morelos municipality, where remains of at least 16 people were found during investigative procedures carried out this month.
According to the FGE, the detainee is allegedly linked to a criminal group generating violence in the region and is suspected of having participated in activities related to drug dealing. He was also identified as the person who allegedly managed the rental of the aforementioned property.
The capture was carried out by agents of the Investigative Police attached to the Specialized Homicide Prosecutor's Office during an operation in supermanzana 107 of the Paraíso Maya subdivision.
During his arrest, agents confiscated a short .40 caliber firearm, a magazine with useful cartridges, green plant material with characteristics of marijuana, and various vehicle license plates from Quintana Roo, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Mexico City.
All the material was placed under ministerial custody as part of the investigation file.
According to the initial investigation, "El Compi" allegedly participated in the operational logistics of the criminal group that used the ranch as a point for clandestine burial.
The Prosecutor's Office stated that forensic work continues to fully identify the located victims and determine the timeframe of the events.
The property was secured on November 6, where forensic experts located multiple irregular graves and bone fragments distributed in different points of the terrain.
The detainee and the evidence were made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office, who will determine his legal status within the legal timeframe.
The FGE stated that the investigation remains active to identify other possible individuals involved.
