Cancún, Quintana Roo — Coordination between state and federal authorities has led to the arrest of an individual considered a principal generator of violence in the state of Nuevo León. Francisco “N”, 35, was captured in the early hours of Sunday in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Cancún.
The subject was considered a high-priority target in Nuevo León for his alleged participation in high-impact crimes. Tactical georeferencing and tracking operations were carried out by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, the National Intelligence Center, the Attorney General's Office of Nuevo León, the State Investigation Agency, and the Fuerza Civil. This collaboration led to the location of Francisco “N”, who was attempting to evade justice.
It is alleged that Francisco “N” led an independent criminal cell from Cancún, operating a network dedicated primarily to the extortion of merchants in municipalities near Monterrey, in addition to drug distribution and the commission of homicides. All of this activity was allegedly coordinated from the Yucatán Peninsula.
He currently faces an active arrest warrant for the crime of Attempted Aggravated Homicide. Francisco “N” has been transferred to Nuevo León to face pending judicial mandates.
This detention represents a significant blow to organized crime in the metropolitan area of Monterrey and demonstrates the efficacy of collaboration between state and federal authorities.
