Tulum, Quintana Roo — Akumal Bay recorded a day free of sargassum, solidifying its position as a top destination for visitors in the region amid intermittent seaweed presence along other parts of the Tulum coastline.

According to tourism service providers, the bay’s current conditions result from coordinated work between the hotel sector and local cooperatives, who have implemented constant cleanup and containment actions to keep the area in optimal shape.

Cooperative workers noted that, in addition to daily collection tasks, they have reinforced preventive strategies to avoid seaweed accumulation along the coastal strip, helping preserve the destination’s visual and environmental quality.

Hotel sector representatives highlighted that these joint actions have been key to sustaining tourism activity, especially during seasons when sargassum arrivals impact other municipal beaches.

Akumal Bay, known for its calm waters and natural surroundings, has seen increased visitor numbers due to favorable conditions, benefiting local guides, boat operators, and merchants.

Although the sargassum phenomenon remains variable and dependent on environmental factors, service providers indicated they will continue coordinated efforts to maintain the bay as an attractive tourism spot in Tulum.
