Aguakan Expands Water Service with 65 Pumping Stations Across Quintana Roo

Quintana Roo, Mexico — Aguakan, the concessionaire operating water services in four municipalities of Quintana Roo, has consolidated its service with 65 pumping stations across the state.

The stations pump water to ensure it reaches all homes, businesses, and hospitals with adequate pressure and quality. Each station receives treated water and distributes it through the network in a coordinated manner, ensuring even remote or elevated areas maintain supply.

Each pumping station contains a tank for treated water, pumps and motors to propel it, and control systems to maintain proper operation. Aguakan also maintains backup equipment to prevent supply disruptions during unexpected events.

With over 65 stations strategically distributed across Quintana Roo’s extensive, mostly flat territory—which faces rapid urban growth and seasonal demand fluctuations—the company ensures constant flow, prevents pressure drops, and supplies new areas without affecting existing ones.

Aguakan runs a constant maintenance and supervision program to ensure water pressure, flow, and quality remain optimal. This allows families in Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, and Puerto Morelos to have daily water access, while critical sectors like hospitals and businesses operate without interruptions.
