Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The beloved Mexican electropop band Belanova will perform a free concert in Playa del Carmen on Monday, July 28, as part of the celebrations marking the 32nd anniversary of the city’s incorporation as a municipality. The event, organized by the local government, will take place at Plaza Cívica 28 de Julio starting at 8:00 PM.

A Milestone Celebration

The concert is part of a broader cultural and entertainment agenda spearheaded by Playa del Carmen Mayor Estefanía Mercado. Earlier this month, the city hosted the Feria del Carmen from July 10 to 16, featuring performances by renowned national artists such as Molotov, Bobby Pulido, and El Malilla.

This year’s festivities hold special significance, as Playa del Carmen—formerly known as Solidaridad—was officially renamed in April 2025 through a constitutional reform. The change reflects the city’s cultural identity and its evolution into one of Mexico’s premier tourist destinations since its establishment in 1993.

Belanova’s Return to the Stage

Fronted by vocalist Denisse Guerrero, with Edgar Huerta on keyboards and Ricardo Arreola on bass, Belanova rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like Por ti, Rosa pastel, Me pregunto, Cada que…, and Tus ojos. Their fusion of synth-pop and electronic music earned them a dedicated fanbase across Mexico and Latin America.

The band has received numerous accolades, including a Latin Grammy for Best Electronic Music Album (Fantasía Pop, 2008) and nominations at the MTV Latin America Awards, Premios Oye!, and Billboard Latin Music Awards. After a hiatus, Belanova returned to touring in 2023 with a reunion series that sold out venues nationwide.

A Free, Family-Friendly Event

The Playa del Carmen concert offers locals and tourists alike the chance to experience Belanova’s iconic hits live. The performance aligns with the municipal government’s efforts to strengthen community ties through accessible cultural programming.

No tickets are required for the event, which is expected to draw a large crowd to Plaza Cívica 28 de Julio. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot.
