Tulum Beaches Stay Free: Governor’s New Plan

Tulum, Quintana Roo — The Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, led a working meeting with General Adolfo Héctor Tonatiuh Velasco Bernal, Director General of the Grupo Mundo Maya, with the objective of reinforcing actions to guarantee free access to the beaches of Tulum. This meeting seeks to strengthen coordination between authorities from the three levels of government and ensure that natural spaces remain available for citizens and tourists.

During the meeting, Lezama emphasized that the collaboration between institutions reflects the state government's commitment to environmental conservation and equitable access to natural resources. She also highlighted the importance of promoting responsible and sustainable tourism that contributes to the region's economic development without compromising its ecosystems.

"Working in a coordinated manner with General Adolfo Héctor Tonatiuh Velasco Bernal and the Grupo Mundo Maya, we are reinforcing actions so that the inhabitants of Tulum can enjoy their beaches freely and safely. This joint effort with state and federal institutions…" Lezama stated in a social media post.

Representatives from state and federal institutions attended the event, including the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), and authorities from the Grupo Mundo Maya, as well as secretaries and officials from various departments of the Government of Quintana Roo. The participation of these entities guarantees the necessary coordination to implement measures that protect the beaches and maintain their open access for all.
