Cancún, Quintana Roo — A family gathering turned into a scene of terror on Saturday night when two armed assailants stormed a residence in the 246th District and opened fire on two men who were socializing with relatives and friends.
Attack Details
The incident occurred on Tercera Cerrada de Fresnos Street, Block 21, when the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and, without warning, fired directly at the victims, causing panic among those present. After the shooting, the assailants fled at high speed, disappearing between the 246th and 247th Districts. Authorities have yet to locate them.
Despite emergency protocols being activated, an ambulance was delayed in arriving. A family member transported the wounded in a private vehicle to the General Hospital Jesús Kumate Rodríguez. Preliminary reports indicated one victim was shot in the face and head, while the other sustained at least three gunshot wounds to different parts of the body. Both were later reported to be in stable condition.
Investigation Underway
Municipal police officers, in coordination with forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office, cordoned off the area. Investigators recovered only two shell casings, despite the victims suffering more than five gunshot wounds—a discrepancy that has raised questions about the crime scene.
Authorities have not ruled out any lines of investigation, including a possible targeted attack or a warning message. There are unconfirmed reports that the victims may have ties to the hotel or construction industries.
The case remains open under an active investigation file, while family members demand justice and protection.
