Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of DIF Quintana Roo, led the reopening of the Childcare Center (CAI) "Estrellita" in the Prado Norte neighborhood, a facility dedicated to the comprehensive development of children.

A Commitment to Early Childhood Development

The reopening ceremony was also attended by Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, municipal president of Benito Juárez. Governor Lezama emphasized that the initiative reaffirms the commitment of her administration—a "humanist government with a feminist heart"—to ensuring a protected, active, and happy childhood.

"Through the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, we are all moving in the same direction, prioritizing the needs of people. Public funds must return to the people, and children are fundamental to this government’s agenda," stated the governor.

Services and Educational Approach

The CAI "Estrellita" will serve children aged 2 to 5 years and 11 months, primarily those of parents working in the tourism sector, operating from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The center aligns with the National Early Childhood Strategy, offering programs in maternal level 2, preschool levels 1, 2, and 3, along with services in social work, education, psychology, nutrition, and healthcare.

Verónica Lezama Espinosa highlighted that the project is a collaborative effort among federal, state, and municipal governments, focused on providing quality and nurturing educational spaces for Quintana Roo’s children and adolescents.

During a tour of the facility, she explained that the center employs the Reggio Emilia educational model, which fosters autonomous learning through exploration and creativity.

"Let us continue building a better future for our children, working with heart and dedication. My commitment is and will always be the well-being of the state’s priority groups, working tirelessly from north to south—humans helping humans," she said.

Collaborative Efforts for Community Impact

Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña welcomed attendees and underscored the importance of joint efforts in achieving shared goals. Also present at the event were Abril Cristina Sabido Alcérreca, director general of DIF Quintana Roo, and Marisol Sendo Rodríguez, president of DIF Benito Juárez.

The reopening of CAI "Estrellita" marks another step in the administration’s efforts to support working families while prioritizing early childhood education and development.
