Pipe Creek, Texas — The State Government of Yucatán, through its Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), has dispatched three members of its Canine (K-9) Unit to the city of Pipe Creek, Texas, to participate in a three-week specialized course on explosives detection.

The training is being conducted in coordination with the United States Embassy in Mexico, under the framework of the Bicentennial Understanding, a binational collaboration strategy between Mexico and the United States that articulates joint actions in security, crime prevention, and combating threats that endanger the population.

During their stay, the K-9 Unit personnel will update their knowledge in advanced explosives detection techniques, tactical handling of canine teams, and intervention procedures in strategic installations, transport terminals, and large-scale events, following homologated protocols of operation.

Upon completion of the training, the officers will return to Yucatán with an international certification and will be accompanied by three new canine specimens trained in explosives detection. These dogs will be integrated into the operational forces of the SSP to expand response capacity and reinforce prevention and citizen protection efforts.

Through these actions, the State Government and the Secretariat of Public Security reaffirm their commitment to professionalizing their police forces, strengthening international collaboration in security matters, and working hand-in-hand with a citizenry that participates, collaborates, and reports any suspicious situation in a timely manner to emergency numbers.
