Quintana Roo, Yucatán — Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena led the start of construction and rehabilitation works for harvest roads in the municipality of Quintana Roo, with the purpose of strengthening rural connectivity and directly supporting productive activities in the interior of the state.
During the event, the state leader recalled that throughout Yucatán, 760 kilometers of harvest roads are being rehabilitated, with an investment exceeding 60 million pesos. These actions directly benefit 81 municipalities as part of the Caminos Renacimiento program.
Furthermore, he announced that this support will continue next year with the purpose of strengthening agricultural production and improving living conditions in rural communities.
In the specific case of Quintana Roo, Díaz Mena supervised the start of the rehabilitation of two kilometers of roads, corresponding to a first stage of a total of six kilometers planned for this municipality.
How Will These Works Benefit Quintana Roo?
The head of the state executive branch noted that for many years, rural communities have had to face obstacles that should not exist, such as roads in poor condition, which has limited the development of the countryside. These works will allow:
- improving the transportation of agricultural products
- reducing transportation costs
- providing greater security to producers in the region
He recalled that for almost nine years, harvest roads had not been repaired in Yucatán, a situation that, he said, occurs when authorities are unaware of the reality of rural areas.
“When the work of the countryside is not known or understood, sometimes it is thought that Yucatán ends at the Mérida ring road. But those of us who are from towns, like you, know closely the needs of the countryside. I come from San Felipe, which is smaller than Quintana, and that is why we are addressing these historical demands.”

How Many Kilometers of Roads Will Be Built in 2026?
Likewise, the Governor announced that in 2026, another 760 kilometers of harvest roads will be built, in order to support small producers and continue promoting the agricultural development of the region, consolidating a network of functional and safe roads for the transportation of crops and livestock.
Regarding educational infrastructure, Díaz Mena reported that the Manuel Alcalá Martín secondary school will also benefit and announced that maintenance of the school’s bathrooms will be carried out with an investment of 1.5 million pesos. These funds are already allocated and execution will begin in the coming days.
The Governor reiterated his commitment to social welfare and highlighted the work being done by DIF Yucatán in favor of people with disabilities in the 106 municipalities.
“These harvest roads will mean a great benefit for field producers, and these work commitments would not be possible without the unconditional support of the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. This is the Maya Renacimiento: a Government that looks communities in the face, dialogues and listens so that the budget is invested in what people need.”

What Will Be the Investment for These Works?
The head of the Secretariat of Rural Development (Seder), Edgardo Medina Rodríguez, specified that the rehabilitation of productive roads represents opportunities, hope, and the firm commitment of the Maya Renacimiento Government to producers who daily work the land to feed Yucatán.
During the start of works at the Santa María productive unit, Medina Rodríguez reported that the rehabilitation of two kilometers of roads will begin, which will directly benefit 25 producers in the municipality.
The official emphasized that this effort is part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen agricultural activity in the region. “This is not an isolated effort; in this municipality, six kilometers of roads will be rehabilitated, with a positive impact for 55 producers integrated into three committees,” he stated.
Likewise, he specified that for these actions, an investment close to half a million pesos will be allocated, with the objective of improving connectivity, facilitating the transportation of supplies and harvests, and strengthening local productive development.
Attending the event were the mayor of Quintana Roo, María Minelia Uicab Cel; the senator, Verónica Camino Farjat; and the beneficiary of Caminos Renacimiento, Luis Alberto Aban.
Also present were the president of the Regional Livestock Union of the East of the State of Yucatán (Ugroy), Mario Esteban López Meneses; and the head of the representation office of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) in Yucatán, Jorge Carlos Berlín Montero.
