CANCÚN, MX — A young man was shot and killed on Saturday afternoon in the Region 530 district, during what appeared to be a negotiation for the sale of a motorcycle. The attack took place on Caliza street, a dirt road situated between José López Portillo and Nichupté avenues.
According to preliminary information, the victim had arrived at the location on his own motorcycle to deliver the vehicle to the presumed buyers. Documents for the unit were found among his belongings, supporting the version of events that this was a pre-arranged transaction.
However, upon his arrival, he was ambushed by armed individuals who, without a word, shot him at least ten times. The young man's body was left lying in a puddle of water as the assailants fled to an unknown location.
Paramedics from a private company arrived minutes later but could only confirm the absence of vital signs.
Personnel from the State Attorney General's Office cordoned off the area and collected spent shell casings to begin the corresponding investigation file.
The identity of the deceased has not been released at this time, and no arrests have been reported.
