After two of the three opponents for the Mexican National Soccer Team in the 2026 World Cup were announced, tickets on official resale platforms reached exorbitant prices.
Some seats for the opening match against South Africa at the Estadio Azteca on June 11 exceeded 800,000 pesos on sites like Stubhub, in the Pitchside Lounge located next to the sideline.
There were six tickets available in that area with a cost of 828,858 pesos each.
In the first sales window opened by FIFA, tickets for this match when the opponent was still unknown cost $1,825 (approximately 30,000 pesos).
After Friday’s draw, there are seats starting at 371,000 pesos, scaling to over half a million, up to the aforementioned ones that are currently the most expensive.
For the match against South Korea that will be played at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara on June 18, on the mentioned platform there are tickets that exceed one million pesos.
In the tbd row (Category 3), there is one ticket available that costs 1,094,092 pesos. There are seats starting at 118,000 pesos, over 300,000, over half a million, up to the aforementioned one that is the most expensive.
It should be noted that in the United States and Canada, resale on official FIFA pages is legal, while in Mexico it is not permitted.
At the end of November, FIFA announced that almost two million tickets were sold after the first two stages, and Mexico was the third country with the most purchases, behind the other hosts, the United States and Canada.
The third phase of ticket sales will open next December 11, when dates, venues, and times for each of the 104 matches that will be played in the 2026 World Cup will be known.
