Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman was shot dead shortly before midnight Saturday at the intersection of Avenidas 38 and Chemuyil in Playa del Carmen, according to preliminary information.

The victim was riding a motorcycle and was reportedly accompanied by two of her daughters when her attackers intercepted her at that spot. Realizing the danger, she tried to flee on foot but was struck by gunfire and died at the scene.

The attack triggered a deployment of police officers and emergency services, which rushed to the area after receiving reports of gunshots.
