TULUM — A security operation conducted in the Veleta neighborhood of Tulum resulted in the seizure of firearms, live ammunition, and various substances considered dangerous. The operation was part of coordinated actions between security agencies to combat possible illicit activities in the area.
The deployment was led by elements of the Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection, in coordination with personnel from the State Attorney General's Office. Officials carried out intelligence, investigation, and follow-up work that allowed them to locate the point where the seized objects were allegedly stored.
During the operation, officers seized several firearms, ammunition, and various substances classified as toxic or hazardous. All the material was secured and turned over to the appropriate authorities for the compilation of case files and the corresponding forensic analysis.
Witnesses who observed the deployment of security forces captured the events on video. This material began to circulate among residents of the area and on social networks, where part of the police mobilization recorded in the streets of the Veleta neighborhood can be seen.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement detailing the outcome of the operation. However, it has been unofficially reported that the seizure could be related to ongoing investigations into alleged criminal activities in the municipality.
Authorities indicated that these types of actions are part of the ongoing security strategies being developed in Quintana Roo to strengthen crime prevention and maintain an operational presence in different parts of the state. Investigations continue to determine possible responsibilities regarding the seized items.
