According to the municipal director of Tourism, Badhi Sleme Flores, the app features trusted local businesses that ensure quality service, eliminating the need for tourists to look for recommendations elsewhere. This allows visitors to enjoy their stay in Cozumel with the confidence of having verified information at their fingertips.
The app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. It boasts an appealing graphic interface and intuitive navigation, guiding users to the information they need through clear and straightforward buttons. Although it is primarily targeted at tourists, the app also serves as a valuable resource for local residents.
The Visit Cozumel app is directly linked to the official website, www.visitcozumel.mx, which houses all essential tourist information, including an interactive map and historical details about the island. This information has been provided and vetted by the island's lifetime chronicler, Veudi Vivas Valdes, who has compiled the most important details about the island's monuments, historical sites, and rich history.
The app, which can be downloaded from the official website, was developed by an external company at a cost of 250 thousand pesos. However, the City Council owns the rights to the app, ensuring no future issues regarding responsibility and software updates.
The app supports both Spanish and English, with the option to select other languages. This is made possible through the integration of Artificial Intelligence in its code, which also enables the generation of user preference statistics. This feature will help provide a more personalized experience tailored to the needs of each user.
