Chetumal — An incident in the early hours of Sunday generated indignation among public transport users in Chetumal after a group of people reported being victimized by a taxi operator who allegedly fled with their money.
The situation was exposed on social media by one of the affected individuals, who recounted the events that took place aboard a unit marked with the number 1923, belonging to a local taxi stand. The publication quickly began to circulate, generating reactions of anger and demands for attention from the taxi union.
According to the shared information, the individuals requested a taxi service after concluding a social gathering. After completing two trips, they proceeded to pay the corresponding amount with a 500-peso bill. However, at the moment of handing the money to the driver, he suddenly drove off without providing the change.
The act left the users surprised and with no possibility to react to the operator's flight, who left the area without offering any explanation.
Faced with what happened, the affected individuals decided to seek support directly from the taxi union to request the location of the driver and recover their money. Nevertheless, according to their testimony, the response they received was minimal and far from resolving the problem.
When asking where they could find the responsible party, the only answer they obtained was "at his house," without providing further information or formal channels to file a complaint or initiate an internal procedure.
