Mexico City — US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick will visit Mexico City for a working meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum and Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard to discuss key issues on the bilateral economic and trade agenda, Ebrard confirmed.
In a post on social media, Ebrard announced the official’s upcoming visit and said he would keep the public informed of any progress and agreements resulting from the talks.
Prior talks
The meeting follows a conversation between Lutnick and Ebrard on September 2 during a Group of 20 (G-20) ministerial meeting in North Carolina. That day, Sheinbaum confirmed that Ebrard was in the United States seeking agreements on tariffs for automobiles and steel.
