Mysterious Suicide Stuns Playa del Carmen Community

The perplexing suicide of a woman, estimated to be around 25 years old, has left her neighbors in Playa del Carmen questioning the circumstances surrounding her death. The incident took place in the Nueva Creacion neighborhood, where residents are speculating if violence could have played a part in her demise.

The young woman's body was discovered in her room, located in a recently expanded house that was rented out by the room. The suspected suicide occurred on Isla Mujeres Street in the same neighborhood.

Upon receiving the distressing news, officials from the Secretary of Public Safety were dispatched to the scene. The incident was initially reported to the emergency services via a 911 call.

As of Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, the official statistics indicate that there have been approximately 32 suicides in the Solidaridad municipality this year.

In response to this tragic event, only a few neighbors ventured out of their homes to find out more about what had transpired. The sight of a van from the Medical Forensic Service (Semefo) and a patrol car from the Secretary of Public Safety confirmed the gravity of the situation.
