Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A traffic accident in the Ejido neighborhood left two people injured on Thursday after a driver reportedly ran a stop sign, causing a collision between a car and a motorcycle.
The crash occurred when the driver of a gray car traveling on Avenida 90 failed to stop at the intersection with Avenida Constituyentes, entering the path of a motorcycle carrying two people who had the right of way.
Witnesses said the motorcycle was proceeding through the intersection when the car struck it, ejecting both riders several meters onto the pavement. Both sustained visible injuries.
Bystanders called emergency services, and Red Cross paramedics arrived minutes later to provide pre-hospital care. Authorities transported both injured individuals to a local hospital for further evaluation to rule out more serious injuries.
Municipal Transit Department officers responded to the scene to document the incident, conduct an investigation, and manage traffic flow, as the crash caused temporary disruptions in the area.
Officials said the matter was resolved through the insurance companies of the vehicles involved, so authorities did not need to detain either driver. They urged all motorists and motorcyclists to obey traffic signals and drive cautiously to prevent similar accidents.
