Tulum, Quintana Roo — Tulum continues to make its mark in national sports competitions, with a group of young athletes delivering outstanding performances at the National Children's Judo Tournament. The event, named in honor of Prof. Tomoyoshi Yamaguchi, took place from May 1 to May 4 in Mexico City.
Medal-Winning Performances
On May 2, seven children in the 11-12 age category (Sub 13) competed with enthusiasm and dedication, securing impressive results:
- Gold Medal 🥇: Maximiliano Vázquez Cámara in the 31 kg division.
- Silver Medal 🥈: César Eduardo Santamaría Ruiz in the 42 kg division.
- Bronze Medal 🥉: Iker Navarro Ken in the 47 kg division.
Two days later, on May 4, three additional medals were earned through determination and discipline:
- Gold Medal 🥇: Thayli Sofia Molina Mayo in the 13-14 age category, 48 kg division.
- Silver Medal 🥈: Dylan Gael Itza Zaval in the 13-14 age category, 58 kg division.
- Bronze Medal 🥉: Kenny Eliel Vazquez Cámara in the 13-14 age category, 48 kg division.
A Boost for Pan American Games Aspirations
These achievements not only bring pride to Tulum but also contribute valuable points toward Mexico’s participation in the upcoming Pan American Games. The dedication and skill displayed by these young athletes highlight the growing talent and passion for sports in the region.
Recognition was also extended to coaches Marta Domínguez and Juan E. Martí for their guidance. The tournament is ongoing, with additional Tulum competitors still vying for more medals.
