Tulum Lobster Festival Returns to Punta Allen and Downtown

Tulum, Quintana Roo — The Lobster Festival returns to Punta Allen and downtown Tulum this weekend for a three-day celebration of local gastronomy and culture.

Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo announced that the festival will begin Friday in Punta Allen, a fishing village within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, where residents, fishermen and service providers will greet visitors. Activities will continue Saturday and Sunday in Tulum’s municipal seat, with a program centered on regional cuisine and cultural expressions.

“We’re going to start Friday in Punta Allen and finish Saturday and Sunday here in Tulum, with several gastronomic and cultural events and, above all, we want people to come, have a great time and eat with their families,” Castañón Trejo said.

The mayor said the festival has been held for several years and has introduced residents and tourists to different ways of preparing lobster. He highlighted coconut lobster as one of the signature dishes and said the gathering also offers visitors a direct look at Punta Allen, a community whose economy is closely tied to fishing and tourism.

Castañón Trejo invited families and visitors to take part in the scheduled activities over the three days. He added that one of the aims is to create opportunities for Punta Allen’s residents and service providers while using gastronomy to promote the community and diversify Tulum’s tourism offerings.
