Tulum, Quintana Roo — Tulum International Airport has been nominated for the 2026 World Travel Awards, considered one of the tourism industry’s most prestigious global recognitions, in the category of Mexico and Latin America’s leading airport.

The nomination places the airport terminal in international competition alongside other airports and tourist destinations evaluated for their service quality, infrastructure, visitor experience, and impact on tourism development.

Voting for this edition opened on March 30 and will remain available until June 12, during which tourism professionals and the general public can cast their votes through the official awards portal.

According to information released by Tulum tourism promotion authorities, interested parties can participate by visiting www.worldtravelawards.com, where they must register or log in, select the corresponding category, and choose Tulum Airport from the list of nominees.

The World Travel Awards were created in 1993 and are currently considered the “Oscars of tourism,” recognizing destinations, hotels, airlines, airports, and companies that excel within the global travel industry.

Each year, these awards conduct voting and regional ceremonies in different parts of the world before culminating in a global final that recognizes international tourism industry leaders.

The nomination of Tulum International Airport comes as the terminal seeks to establish itself as one of the Mexican Caribbean’s main tourist entry points, strengthening the destination’s air connectivity and its positioning in the international market.
