Tulum, Quintana Roo — The Tulum municipal council approved several measures focused on child protection and education support during its 36th regular session, led by Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo.
Municipal Child Protection System Regulations Approved
The council approved regulations for the Municipal System for the Comprehensive Protection of Children and Adolescents, which establishes guidelines for municipal authorities in:
- Protecting children’s rights
- Promoting child welfare
- Guaranteeing rights for children and adolescents
The regulations will strengthen coordination between institutions for designing, implementing, and evaluating public policies for this sector.
Education Support Through Property Tax Exemption
The council also approved a property tax exemption for 2026 for the Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos del Estado de Quintana Roo (CECyTE), Tulum campus. The exemption applies to property identified with cadastral key 902002000037002 and aims to strengthen the institution’s operations for the benefit of students.
State Legal Framework Update
The council endorsed adding a third paragraph to Article 19 of the Constitution of the Free and Sovereign State of Quintana Roo as part of updating the legal framework governing public life in the state.
