Tulum, Mexico — The Tulum Airport has surpassed one million passengers processed in the first ten months of 2025. The arrival of the international market is notable, representing 542,902 visitors.
According to a report from the Olmeca-Maya-Mexica Airport, Railroad, Auxiliary Services, and Related Services Group, the terminal has processed a total of 1,019,070 passengers. Of these, 46.7 percent are domestic travelers and 53.3 percent are international.
This milestone was achieved despite challenges from flight cancellations that have been recorded. Among the canceled flights is the Avianca route from Bogotá, as well as Air Canada flights from Ottawa and Quebec. These routes had been launched after the airport's opening in December 2023.
This same company also announced a reduction in frequencies from Montreal, maintaining only the route from Toronto without changes, with four weekly frequencies. United Airlines also eliminated its route from Boston and discarded its plans to connect with Denver.
Bernardo Cueto Riestra, head of the Quintana Roo Secretary of Tourism (Sedetur), stated that the current situation is part of the recovery expected for this destination for the winter season and in anticipation of a surge in traveler arrivals to Mexico during 2026 for the soccer World Cup being held across the state.
"The current situation in Tulum responds to seasonal flights that are now returning; we will be sharing information about many flights that return starting in November to the Tulum International Airport in search of the high season at the end of the year," said the official.
At the close of 2024, the terminal registered 1,233,459 passengers. With two months remaining in 2025, it is close to reaching a goal that could be classified as an achievement, given the international landscape.
However, the Quintana Roo Secretary of Tourism has announced that Tulum will recover many of the canceled flights in December of this same year.
Coincidentally, while Tulum reports one million passengers processed in the first ten months of the year, the Cancún International Airport records a drop of one million travelers in the same period.
