Tulum, Mexico — In an unprecedented joint action, various tourist service providers participated in the rehabilitation of the northern entrance to the Tulum archaeological zone. This traditional route leads to the emblematic historical site, one of the greatest attractions of the Mexican Caribbean.

The initiative is part of a coordinated effort with authorities from the three levels of government to boost local economic reactivation and offer a more accessible, orderly, and secure experience for visitors. The work included general cleaning, signage, road rehabilitation, and adjustments for the controlled entry of tourists, while respecting ecological conservation zones and the patrimonial value of the site.

According to participants, the project was developed in coordination with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), and the Mundo Maya Group, ensuring compliance with current environmental and cultural regulations.

"This is a collaboration between all sectors: public, private, and social. It is a demonstration that when there is will and organization, progress is achieved that benefits the entire community," highlighted one of the service providers involved in the cleaning and rehabilitation work.

The reopening of this corridor is key within the comprehensive project of the Jaguar Park, a federal initiative that seeks to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable tourism in the protected natural area. Its reactivation will allow for the reestablishment of visitor flow and strengthen the economy of tour guides, transport operators, restaurateurs, and local merchants who depend directly on this access route.

Authorities reported that the rehabilitation of the northern entrance is only the first phase of the project. A second stage contemplates the installation of information modules, educational spaces about environmental conservation, rest areas, and tourist services with a sustainable focus.

The collaboration of the service providers was fundamental for advancing the sanitation of areas invaded by weeds, the delimitation of parking zones, and the placement of informational signage to facilitate the journey of visitors to the archaeological site.
