Chetumal, Quintana Roo — As part of a strategy to diversify tourism in Chetumal and its surrounding areas, the Directorate of Tourism Development together with the Mobility Operations Directorate of the Othón P. Blanco Municipality has announced the Chetumal-Calderitas-Oxtankah tourist circuit, which will operate on two Saturdays in December.
As part of its pilot test, the Chetumal-Calderitas-Oxtankah circuit will have two departures during the month of December, which will take place on Saturdays the 6th and 27th. The starting point will be the Fuente del Pescador in the capital city, where interested parties must go to begin the tour.
Subsequently, it will make a stop in Calderitas, where the circuit can also be boarded before continuing to the Oxtankah archaeological zone, located just a few minutes from this ejido, which will be the arrival point.
According to the announced schedules, the circuit will begin its route at 10:00 hours and arrive at Calderitas at 10:40 hours.
The return schedules are expected to have the circuit depart from Oxtankah at 13:00 hours, arrive at Calderitas at 13:15 hours, and reach the Fuente del Pescador by 15:00 hours.
According to the Directorate of Tourism Development, this is a joint effort with the Mobility Operations Directorate, through which they seek to create a new offering for visitors, but also for local people. Therefore, the two pilot tests will be implemented in the last month of the year, before it becomes a fixed project, taking advantage of the arrival of national and foreign tourists during the upcoming holiday season.
It was also indicated that the objective of this circuit is to connect the cultural, historical, and gastronomic richness and the natural beauties that can be found in Calderitas and Oxtankah, to promote them as tourist destinations in the southern zone of Quintana Roo, considering that they have not been given enough publicity for visitors to come and see them.
