Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Mayor Estefanía Mercado shared a night of joy and popular culture at the Feria del Carmen 2025, where hundreds of families packed the Teatro del Pueblo to enjoy the headline performance of Nani Namú, a character portrayed by renowned Yucatecan comedian Hernán Novelo.
A Celebration of Community and Tradition
"These events are a way for us to reconnect as a community, strengthen our roots, and above all, provide spaces for healthy family gatherings," said the mayor, emphasizing the promotion of cultural and artistic activities to foster social unity and collective well-being.
The fairgrounds buzzed with humor and regional identity as Nani Namú delivered a show filled with satire, wit, and cultural pride. Mayor Mercado toured the venue, greeting attendees and observing the festive and secure atmosphere. Her presence was warmly received by citizens, who appreciated her commitment to local traditions.
Nani Namú, with his irreverent yet endearing style, transformed the Teatro del Pueblo into an interactive celebration, reaffirming his status as one of the most beloved entertainers in southeastern Mexico. Hernán Novelo, a Yucatecan actor with over three decades of experience, blends drag performance, social commentary, comedy, and music, solidifying his reputation as a staple of popular entertainment.
A Diverse Lineup of Performances
The evening also featured performances by the Trío Ecos del Mayab, Mariachi Imperial de la Riviera Maya, and the Show Artístico by La Sede. These acts reflect the Mercado administration’s dedication to bringing art and culture to all citizens, reinforcing community ties and revitalizing public spaces.
The Feria del Carmen festivities continue on Tuesday at Plaza 28 de Julio with the highly anticipated performance by Molotov, closing the international music lineup organized by the municipal government in honor of the Virgin of Carmen. The fairgrounds will also host a full schedule of cultural and artistic events.
