A taxi driver collided with a Civil Protection ambulance on Federal Highway 307, near the entrance to Paamul beach. The ambulance was attending to another accident at the time.
Poor lighting, excessive speed, and disregarded road signs contributed to the crash. The ambulance, which was part of emergency unit number 21 C, had parked on the road to assist victims of a rear-end collision.
Despite the ambulance's flashing lights and precautionary signals, the taxi, numbered 147 and part of the "Lázaro Cárdenas del Río" union, crashed into it from behind. The taxi was reportedly speeding, and the driver failed to notice the ambulance's presence and maneuvers.
Fortunately, the paramedics were unharmed. However, they had to call for another medical unit to continue caring for the victims of the initial accident. This accident involved a rear-end collision between two private vehicles, both of which sustained significant damage.
In the aftermath, the Highway Division of the National Guard removed the involved vehicles with a tow truck. Meanwhile, the parties involved reached agreements for damage repair with their respective insurance companies.
