Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A taxi was left heavily damaged after a Nissan pickup truck ran a stop sign and slammed into it in the Pescadores 2 neighborhood, according to authorities.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Avenidas Chi and Sur. The taxi belonged to the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río taxi union.
Witnesses said the pickup driver ignored the stop sign on one of the area’s roadways, causing the collision against the public transport vehicle.
The impact left the taxi virtually destroyed, while the pickup also sustained damage. Officials responded to the scene to handle the accident and carry out the necessary procedures.
A tow truck from Grúas del Carmen removed the pickup from the site. Despite the severity of the collision, no serious injuries were reported.
Authorities urged drivers to respect traffic signs and drive carefully to prevent accidents that could endanger other road users.
