Drugs Detected in Suitcase at Playa del Carmen Bus Terminal

Suspected drugs found in suitcase at Playa del Carmen bus terminal

Playa del Carmen, January 9. Members of the Canine Unit of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, with the support of the canine team “Yoker,” detected a suitcase with suspected narcotics during surveillance operations at the ADO Bus Terminal, located on Benito Juárez Avenue and Fifth Avenue, in the Centro neighborhood of this municipality.

According to the official report, the events occurred in the luggage area of one of the buses, where the canine began to show changes in attitude, performing repetitive head movements, pulling, and barking, behaviors that indicate the perception of aromas associated with illicit substances. The positive marking was made on a black suitcase.

After the corresponding inspection, authorities located 23 orange boxes with purple, bearing the legend “DAY CERO.” Each contained a chocolate bar inside, which, as indicated by the canine team, are presumed to contain narcotics in their composition.

The suitcase and its contents were secured and made available to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Combating Drug Trafficking, an agency that will conduct the corresponding investigations to determine the nature of the substance and assign responsibilities.
