Cancun, Quintana Roo — Authorities arrested a suspect known as “El Flaco” in Cancun on Thursday, linking him to the arson of two vehicles and possible drug trafficking offenses.

The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office detained Leónides “N,” alias “El Flaco,” during a joint operation with the National Guard and the Municipal Citizen Security and Transit Department. The arrest occurred at the intersection of Instituto Politécnico Nacional and Chac Mool avenues in Supermanzana 514.

Officers conducted a preventive search and found green plant material resembling marijuana, a lighter, and a container with a liquid suspected to be butane gas in his possession. These items connected him to alleged drug crimes.

Initial investigations suggest “El Flaco” was involved in setting fire to two compact cars on Andrés Quintana Roo Avenue on the night of February 27. Authorities believe he acted alone and under the influence of alcohol and possibly illicit substances, which may have influenced his behavior.

The suspect and evidence were handed over to the prosecutor’s office, which will continue the investigation to determine his responsibility in the incidents.
