Suspect Arrested in 2022 Killing of Argentine Manager at Playa del Carmen Beach Club

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Authorities have arrested a man suspected of involvement in the 2022 murder of an Argentine manager at a popular beach club in this tourist destination.

The State Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of Edgar Enrique N, known by the alias “Kiko,” a 26-year-old from Tabasco. Police investigators detained him while executing an arrest warrant.

Prosecutor Raciel López Salazar said the arrest resulted from continued investigation into the case, which he described as one of the high-impact crimes recorded in Playa del Carmen.

The suspect faces allegations of aggravated homicide in the death of Federico José N, a 48-year-old Argentine national who managed the Mamitas beach club.

According to the investigation file, the victim suffered three gunshot wounds from a 9-millimeter firearm, a weapon typically restricted to military use. The attack occurred inside the club’s restroom area, where authorities believe the assailants took the manager before killing him.

Investigators suspect the murder was motivated by the manager’s refusal to allow drug sales and distribution in the tourist area. Authorities say a criminal group sought to operate there and ordered the execution after the victim declined to facilitate their illegal activities.

Another suspect, Luis Gustavo N, alias “La Changa,” 27, is already in custody along with other individuals believed to have participated. The official report indicates both Luis Gustavo N and Edgar Enrique N allegedly intercepted the victim inside the club and led him to the restrooms where the attack occurred.

After the killing, the assailants fled the scene on two personal watercraft with assistance from Paul del Ángel N and another individual. This escape method drew attention at the time due to the speed with which they left the crime scene in one of Solidaridad municipality’s busiest coastal areas.

The Prosecutor’s Office stated that Edgar Enrique N’s arrest represents significant progress in solving the case and confirmed that investigations continue to determine all participants’ involvement and assign responsibility. Authorities have turned the suspect over to a judge who will determine his legal status according to established procedures.
