Cancún, Mexico — A series of surprise security operations were carried out in the hotel zone of Cancún as part of the "Obra Segura" (Secure Worksite) program. The operations involved personnel from the Grupo Centurión, agents from the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC), and members of the Mexican Navy, who toured various construction sites to reinforce surveillance and prevent any type of crime.
The deployment surprised workers and tourists as officers inspected cargo trucks, backpacks, and work zones, all with the objective of maintaining a secure environment in one of the city's most heavily trafficked areas.
During the inspections, the protagonist was Drago, a police dog trained to detect illicit substances, who captured attention with his sense of smell and discipline.
According to the authorities, these operations in Cancún's hotel zone are part of a comprehensive strategy to guarantee the safety of construction workers and tourists, as well as to prevent the entry of suspicious materials or persons into the areas where new tourist complexes are under construction.
For several hours, the agents toured various worksites without finding any irregularities, but they reiterated that they will maintain a constant presence to deter any attempted crime.
The operation also seeks to strengthen trust between workers and security corporations, demonstrating that surveillance in Cancún remains active and coordinated.
With the participation of Drago and the security forces, the authorities sent a clear message: the hotel zone is under guard, and those who attempt to disrupt the peace or put workers at risk will face an immediate response.
Thus, while some are building, others are ensuring that everything proceeds in an orderly fashion.
