Bacalar, Quintana Roo — State prosecutors raided four properties in Bacalar on Monday, arresting two men and seizing drugs and surveillance equipment in an operation targeting drug sales in southern Quintana Roo.
The State Prosecutor’s Office executed simultaneous search warrants at locations along Federal Highway 307, the main route between Chetumal and Cancún.
At the first property, located near a popular roadside café, investigators found multiple doses of marijuana and cocaine. Authorities also discovered surveillance cameras installed around the perimeter, which they believe were used to monitor approaching security personnel.
Near this location, agents arrested Juan Carlos “N” and Miguel Ángel “N,” both found in possession of narcotics during searches.
The operation continued at three additional sites along the same highway, where investigators confirmed finding more prohibited substances resembling cocaine and cannabis.
One location was an unnamed establishment operating 24 hours a day. There, in addition to drugs, authorities seized security cameras and a Dahua-brand digital video recorder, which will be analyzed as part of the investigation.
All four properties were sealed with official tape to preserve the scenes and prevent access.
The evidence and the two detainees were turned over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking in the Southern Zone, where their legal status will be determined.
