Mexico City — The Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado, reported that coverage in upper secondary education continues to increase thanks to the construction of new campuses and expansions that seek to reach the goal of 120,000 new spots.
During the morning press conference, he explained that for 2025 the plan includes 20 new campuses, 33 expansions, and 35 reconversions, which adds up to 37,500 spots, equivalent to 37% of the total goal.
New High Schools Advance in Construction
Delgado detailed that the Secretariat of Infrastructure is constructing campuses that are already operating or are in the final stage in:
- Reynosa
- Tecámac
- Chalco
- Chimalhuacán
- Cuautlancingo (Puebla)
- El Marqués (Querétaro)
- García (Nuevo León)
- Iztapaluca
- Ciudad Juárez
- León
- Mérida
- Texcoco
- Tizayuca
The works will conclude in December. The students, who are currently on vacation, will inaugurate the buildings in February.
In January, the campuses of Benito Juárez (Quintana Roo), Ecatepec, El Salto, Nezahualcóyotl, San Blas, and Tijuana will be delivered, with which the 20 new campuses planned for 2025 will be ready.
For 2026: 20 Technological High Schools and 130 Cyber High Schools
The secretary announced that the 2026 plan includes:
- 20 new technological high schools
- 52 expansions of saturated campuses
- 130 cyber high schools
Delgado explained that the cyber high schools were chosen based on the distance between middle schools and upper secondary education centers, in order to ensure that young people have schools close to home.

- Hermosillo
- Culiacán
- Celaya
- Acapulco
- San Luis Potosí
- Pesquería
- General Escobedo
- Reynosa
- Chicoloapan
- La Paz
- Valle de Chalco
- Tlalnepantla
- Tlalpan
- Calakmul
- Playa del Carmen
- San Andrés Cholula
- Jantetelco
