Police officers conducting an investigation at a commercial establishment in Cozumel

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Two security guards were arrested in Cozumel after being caught stealing electronics and liquor from the very store they were hired to protect.

The incident occurred at the intersection of 75th South Avenue and 15th South Street in the Maravilla neighborhood. A witness alerted police officers who were conducting routine patrols in the area, pointing out a blue Kia Rio parked facing the wrong direction with its trunk open.

The witness reported seeing two men exiting the commercial establishment through a hole in the structure and loading boxes into the vehicle. When officers approached, they discovered the men were the security guards assigned to protect the store.

During a search of the vehicle, which had Mexico City license plates, police found 10 cell phones, four tablets, two gaming consoles, two laptop computers, and two bottles of tequila.

The suspects, identified as Carlos Iván “N” and Williams “N,” were arrested at the scene along with the vehicle and recovered merchandise. Authorities have turned them over to the State Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation and potential charges.
