Cancún, Quintana Roo — Police launched a major search operation in Cancún’s Privadas Turquesa neighborhood on Thursday afternoon after two construction workers disappeared from an active building site.
The operation began after relatives of the missing men filed a report with the State Prosecutor’s Office, stating the construction site was the last place the workers were seen alive.
According to reports, the workers went to the site as usual last week but all contact with them was lost after their shift ended.
The Municipal Police Search Unit and agents from the Investigative Police participated in the operation. Authorities temporarily evacuated other workers from the site while police conducted a thorough search.
Police used canine units to assist in the search, but after a two-hour operation, authorities cleared all areas they had inspected.
Following the search and interviews conducted by investigative agents, other workers were allowed to resume their activities at the site.
Municipal authorities said the investigation remains active and further search operations in the area are expected.
