Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Cruise line Royal Caribbean announced plans to build a new public beach access in Cozumel’s southern hotel zone as part of its Royal Beach Club Cozumel development project.
The company said the new access aims to improve conditions for residents and visitors, addressing long-standing issues with traffic, signage, and lighting at the existing entry point.
Relocating the access will provide better safety, greater accessibility, and new facilities to help the public reach the beach, a right guaranteed by Mexican law.
Royal Caribbean Mexico President Ari Adler Brotman said the project reflects the company’s commitment to tourism development and local community well-being.
“We are excited to bring the Royal Beach Club experience to Cozumel while ensuring beach access remains available to everyone,” Brotman said. “This initiative demonstrates our dedication to creating shared value by enhancing safety, accessibility, and infrastructure for the community.”
Construction will begin once all necessary regulatory and environmental permits are obtained. The current access will remain open during the transition to avoid disrupting public beach entry.
The project is part of Royal Caribbean’s SEA the Future sustainability initiative, which focuses on responsible tourism experiences, environmental protection, local economic development, and innovation in tourist destinations.
