Cancún, Quintana Roo — A dramatic three-vehicle collision on Boulevard Colosio caused major disruptions this morning, leaving one person injured and two vehicles partially engulfed in flames.
The crash occurred around 9:00 a.m., between the Campestre and Bonfil neighborhoods, near the CRIT facility. According to early reports, the driver of a white Nissan Urvan lost control after failing to adjust to road conditions and collided with two other vehicles traveling in the same direction toward the airport.
The first vehicle struck was a Volkswagen Crafter passenger van, followed by a white Nissan Sentra several meters ahead. The impact caused the Crafter to overturn onto the central median, leaving it severely damaged.
Both the Nissan Urvan and the overturned Crafter caught fire shortly after the collision. Passing motorists attempted to extinguish the flames, but the fires were ultimately brought under control by Cancún firefighters.
The driver of the Urvan was the only person injured in the incident. Paramedics treated him at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The crash triggered significant traffic congestion on the route toward Cancún International Airport, with delays lasting more than an hour. By approximately 10:30 a.m., authorities had cleared the wreckage and reopened the affected lanes.
Local officials urge drivers to remain cautious on Boulevard Colosio, a corridor that has seen multiple accidents in recent months due to ongoing construction, uneven surfaces, and high traffic volume.
