Cancún, Mexico — A significant emergency response was mobilized on Monday afternoon after a rollover accident left five people injured in Cancún's Region 222. The incident occurred on Felipe Carrillo Puerto Avenue, at the intersection with Vicente Suárez, in the Paseos Kabah subdivision.

According to initial reports, the driver of a Chevrolet Matiz exited Vicente Suárez Street and collided with a Nissan Versa traveling on the main avenue. The force of the impact caused one of the vehicles to roll over, generating alarm among neighbors and passersby.

Paramedics Treat Five Injured at the Scene

The incident resulted in a total of five injured individuals, who were treated by paramedics at the location. It has not yet been reported if any of them sustained serious injuries, though it was confirmed that all received first aid in a timely manner. The vehicles involved suffered considerable damage from the impact.

Elements of the transit police and municipal police arrived at the site to secure the area, document the accident, and reestablish the flow of traffic.

Neighbors Demand Speed Bumps and Crosswalks Amid Frequent Accidents

Residents of the Paseos Kabah subdivision used the incident to reiterate their demand to municipal authorities: the installation of speed bumps, a pedestrian crosswalk, or traffic lights to reduce vehicle speed at this location, where, they assert, accidents are frequent.

They stated that they have filed multiple complaints for months without receiving a response, despite the area being used daily by families and students.

The roadway remained partially closed while operations to remove the vehicles and complete the corresponding forensic investigation were carried out. Authorities urged citizens to drive with caution and respect speed limits to prevent this type of incident.
