Mexico's President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has emphasized the importance of reviving the Mayan culture. She made these remarks during the inauguration of the Jaguar National Park and the Eastern Coast Museum, an event presided over by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Sheinbaum stressed that the revival of Mayan culture, not just as a part of history but also in the present day, is crucial to Mexican Humanism. She explained that Mexican Humanism represents a governance model that aims to bring prosperity to all. She further added that true development begins only when the wealth of an area, such as the Mayan zone, benefits every household. She sees this as a step towards a different kind of development, one that doesn't just benefit the elite.

Sheinbaum also pledged to continue all of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's Welfare Programs. These include the universal pension for the elderly, support for high school students, and programs like ‘Sowing Life’ and ‘Youth Building the Future’. Additionally, she announced the launch of new social programs. These include a pension for women aged 60 to 64, scholarships for all children in public schools, and a home health program for the elderly.

On the topic of infrastructure, Sheinbaum confirmed that the construction of the Mayan Train will continue. She highlighted the need to convert it into a freight train to stimulate regional development. She also discussed expanding passenger train services to the north of the country.

Sheinbaum concluded by stating that the second phase of the Transformation will focus on continuing policies for the welfare of Mexicans. From October 1st, she said, Mexican Humanism will be a guiding principle of her government, emphasizing a commitment to working for the people.
